The issue of immigration is a complicated social issue consists of politics, economy and culture problems.Receiving immigrants contributed to the economy development and cultural diversity in Britain.Britain has been supportive towards immigrants because of the industrial revolution and post-war reconstruction until the beginning of the 20 th century. The immigrants from Asia and Africa brought about huge contribution as well as problems. In this thesis,I try to focus on the measures being taken in the 1960 s.By a detailed study on The Commonwealth Immigrants Act of 1962 and The Commonwealth Immigrants Act of 1968,I try to reach the inner rules of the British immigration policies. In my opinion, the ultimate goal of British immigration policies is to maintain the interest of the country. The actions such as protecting human rights or multiculturalism must fit the economy status of Britain. When Britain is prosperous, the immigration policies tend to be free;otherwise the policies would seem harsh. The growingly stern immigration policies are the signs that reflect the fall of Britain..
