Research On Nimby Conflicts And Governance

As a developing country and with largest population in the world,China is and will remain in the primary stage of socialism for long.China has seen rapid development in recent years,modern democratic system has constantly been improved and the public have grown awareness of safety and environmental protection,as a result,contradictions between public facilities and citizens have sharpened,mass nimby conflict events triggered by public facilities increased and these have imposed great challenges to public order,urban governance and social stability.Therefore,the research is to figure out a governance and preventive management system to shelter from nimby conflicts.Relying on Management Science,Sociology,Economics and Ecological Philosophy theoretically and referring to Pareto Improvement Theory,Democratic Administration Theory and Public Crisis Management Theory,the author combined practical cases and theories,analyzed nimby conflicts through literature analysis and field research and attempted to figure out the causes and influence factors of such conflicts,so as to propose solutions and countermeasures.In the paper,PX event was taken as a case by the author to explore the personal,psychological,economic and political factors of nimby conflicts,analyze the deep implication,figure out corresponding management system and demonstrate the theoretical and actual significance of governance of nimby conflicts.Nimby conflict countermeasures for the public and government were given respectively in the paper,where,the former should understand what nibmy facility is and propose advices accordingly,while the latter should strengthen market research,information disclosure,compensation mechanism and later-period governance to prevent nimby conflicts.Only in this way can location problem for public facility and projects be solved,sustainable development is obtained,healthy and stable economic development be pursued and harmonious relationship between government and citizens be established.We can see that it features great political,economic and social significance to prevent nimby conflicts.
