Research On Shen Xuanlu's Political Thought And Practice(1920-1924)

Shen Xuanlu is a controversial figure in the history of the communist party of China and China's modern history,but he has a position in the movement history of modern Chinese farmers.People's comments about him are mixed and undefined,but he still has important research values.Shen Xuanlu's early thoughts include political,village autonomy,the women's liberation and so on,especially in terms of political thought and Farmer's movement.he is a firm Marxist who has made important contributions to the creation of the communist party of China and the peasant movement under the leadership of Chinese communist party.This paper intends to systematically comb the political thought and practice of Shen Xuanlu between 1920 and 1924.Shen Xuanlu's life experience is rich and he has experienced the lathe identity of the transformation of lords,capitalist reformists,revolutionaries,Marxists,communists and the Kuomintang(KMT).His political thought has been constantly changing.At first,he puts forward a series of social thought to reform the society such as legal system thought,province and town autonomy thought and work-study mutual aid thought and so on,but he becomes the early Marxists with the deepen understanding about the theory of Marxism and forms his own view of Marxism.Later,as a result of the change of status and class position,he begin to be a man of three people's principles.So Shen Xuanlu's political thought both contains the content of the proletariat and the bourgeois elements that embodies the variability and complexity of its political thought.Shen Xuanlu is very concerned about people,paying attention to people power,organizing a lot of farmer's rebel movements.The most famous rebel movements are the peasant movement before the official building and autonomous practice in Xiaoshan Dongxiang.He deeply realized that natural disasters and the landlord exploitation are the direct causes of poor farmers.And the root cause is private property.so he claims the "abolition of private property,land public ownership".He pays particular attention to the propaganda and the education of farmers,which inspired farmers to become actively involved in the struggle.At the same time,he also believed that bring farmers together and form an alliance to win in the struggle.So he sets up a peasant organization and implement the self-determination of peasants.Although the Farmer's movement of Shen Xuanlu thought has some defects in some respects,because it is mixed with bourgeois reformism.But the idea about farmers' education has the important meaning in China at that time and it also has very important practical significance to modern society.Shen Xuanlu ‘s thought about Women's liberation is unique and advanced,because he not only advocates "female personality independence,equality between men and women",but also advocates "communication freedom,against arranged marriage",advocating the freedom of marriage.He believes that if we want to realize the equality of men and women education,we should in the same school without differences between men and women,even without difference of gender.These ideas were deeply shocking to oppressed women at that time and some of the ideas were new to modern society.These points of view are enlightenment and reference for the emancipation of women,though mixed with some of the impractical fantasy.Shen xuanlu's industrial movement thought embodies the Chinese intellectuals' consideration and exploration about the combination between Marxism and Chinese workers' movement.He uses Marxist class theory to analyze the current situation of Chinese workers and the struggle directed at the bourgeoisie.He also appeals workers to be a group to overthrow of capitalism by means of violence and construct the proletarian society.These points of view have served as a guiding role for the entire movement of Chinese workers at that time.In short,the research about the political thought and practice of Shen Xuanlu not only make us understand the figure who is little-known but played an important role in the process of promoting the development of history.He also broaden the study of history of the communist party of China as well as the breadth and depth in the study of Chinese modern history a certain extent.
