With China's urbanization process gaining momentum,the country has enjoyed enormous economic and social progress and prosperity of modern civilization,meanwhile posing unprecedented pressure and challenges to the whole society.The community residents' committee,known as a basic unit of social governance,nowadays plays both roles of a self-managing group and an assistant of government administration.As the committee becomes a most important institution for settling social problems,job duties and specification of its employees have changed accordingly.Professional community social workers are in great need for specialized and diversified public services.It is therefore of much significance to probe into methods with which community workers' professional skills can be improved,making sure their competence match well with the job requirements.Urban community workers are the main subjects of this study,taking those who work for Shuangta Sub-district's Administration Office as research samples in specific.To start with,documentation method and “behavioral event interview(BEI)” method are employed in an effort to model the competency of community workers.The thesis then points out the status quo and major problems of those community workers through data analysis.It takes a further step to validate the competency model and compares specific competencies among individuals of community workers.Given the obstacles leading to community workers' low professionalism,the thesis finally puts forward a series of solutions and suggestions,in order to build and improve a competence system of professionalism. |
