Comparative Study On The Political Image Of Japan Presented In "Liberty Times" And "United Daily News"

The issue of Taiwan has always been the issue of remaining internal affairs since the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949.Taiwan-Japan relationship is a group of bilateral relations that are subordinate to Sino-Japanese relations.After World War II,Japan ended its colonial rule against Taiwan,changed its attitude towards Taiwan,and began to carry out various civil relations with Taiwan,shape the constant Japanese image,which had an impact on the development of normal diplomatic relations between China and Japan.Japan has become the most important international variable in cross-strait relations except the US government.How Taiwan regards Japan is very important for deep understanding of cross-strait relations.Therefore,To study the Japanese political image from the aspect of Taiwan has certain theoretical and practical significance.This paper chooses the Liberty Times and United Daily News,which are with different political ideologies in the Taiwan media,as the research objects,and analyzes the Japanese political image presented by the Liberal Times and the United Daily News in 2016.Using the content analysis method and comparative method,through the monthly distribution statistics analysis,the topic statistics analysis and the reporting tendency of the samples,this paper summarized the Japanese political image presented by the Liberty Times and the United Daily and compared the similarities and differences.When it comes to the Japanese domestic political image,both of the two media shows image of fierce political strifes and continuous corruption scandals.The difference in these two meadia is that the Liberty Times shows the regime is stable,the Prime Minister has high suppurt rate.And the United Daily News presents a different image,hypocritical and political right deviation.When it comes to Japanese international political image,both of the two media shows a busy Japanese diplomacy image and image full of the dispute in 2016.The difference in these two meadia is that the Liberty Times presents a positive image of Japan’s positive improvement of diplomatic relations and diplomatic achievements,while United Daily News presents that Japan confronts with China,and Japanese tribute diplomacy and diplomatic insurance.The author further analyzes the reasons that the two media present different Japanese political images,through internal and external factors.
