The Development Of Islam Extremism In Central Asia

Islam has a long history in Central Asia,and was greatly influenced by various political factors during different periods.After the collapse of the Soviet Union,there is a renaissance trend of Islam in Central Asia and the religious extremism erupts like a storm thereupon.However the Islam extremism is not a kind of religion,but an alienated extreme political force,and is hazardous to political,economic and social aspects in both Central Asian countries and also the rest of the world.Though dangerous it is,confusing the Islam as a religion and the force of Islam extremism is also detrimental.Based on this standpoint,this dissertation firstly systemizes the development history of Islam in Central Asia,and through definitions distinguishes Islam and Islam extremism;secondly the essay probes into internal and external causes of the emergence of Islam extremism,and introduces two typical organizations active in recent years;last but not least,the paper gives an example of Fergana Valley to illustrate the status quo and effects of Central Asian extremists’ forces.
