Grade is very important to us students. It plays a significant role in student's assessment. The accurate grade shows the academic ability of student. But as the development of the society, especially the economic development, the grade from school is increasing and the grade inflation comes into being. In this essay, we choose GPA(short for grade point average) as a variant to study this case. In general, the students' GPA is increasing ever time, both in private school and public school. And there is also difference among different subjects. Grade inflation results from various reasons, such as the improvement of high school education quality, the consumerism, the school administration, the student evaluation of teaching, and some lures apart from academic elements. Because of the time lag of education, high grade sometime seems to be a good thing. But from a long view, the side effects are quite obvious. Students spend less time on study, because the high grade is very easy to get. Teachers have also made compromise to give students easy high grade because they have to follow something. And also the graduate schools change their examination for choosing postgraduate. The candidates for company are also chosen by more variants besides grade. More and more focuses have been kept on this unhealthy phenomenon in school. There are many universities and colleges trying to cure the grade inflation. Clarifying the relevant information about grades, especially the grading policy; standardizing the grading policy; diversifying the grading display and also improving the student evaluation of teaching make sense in curing the grade inflation. Though we still have a long way in this, we surely can succeed in controlling and curbing it.
