The study is aimed at investigating the effect of note-taking strategy in high school English listening tests and the enlightenment to listening teaching. The author intends to study the effect of note-taking strategy to listening test and find ways to improve English listening teaching on the basis of classification of memory and notetaking strategy, referring to the study of note-taking and listening comprehension both in and out of China, dividing 126 senior students to three groups, teaching note-taking strategy, taking pre-test and post-test, and doing questionnaire survey.The study shows that:(1) On the whole, note-taking strategy has an effect on senior school students' English listening, and the effect can be divided into two kinds:when students have not yet learnt note-taking strategy, it has a negative effect; if students have learnt how to take notes in listening test, it has positive effect.(2)Notetaking strategy has different effects on different students. It is presented as: high level students' grade increased significantly after learning note-taking strategy; the grades whose listening are in average or low level would decrease to varying degrees.The study has great significance and enlightenment to high school English listening teaching. Firstly, the significance lies in the enlightening for clearing the effect of listening comprehension of note-taking strategy. Secondly, the significance lies in the instruction of whether and how to teach note-taking strategy. At last, the results of this study can be provided as reference for latter study and other similar study.
