| Japanese modern school physical education was born and developed owing to the early Meiji civilization and increasing attention to physical health. In the process of its development, an important feature of the modern education in Japan stands out, that is, its strong nationality, holding that education is the basis for national thought unity and the country is the main boost for the overall development of education. Therefore, under the influence of national policies, military tendency appears with the development of Japanese modern school physical education. The thesis takes the militarization of Japanese modern school physical education process as the main line and puts it into the political, the physical education thought and policy framework documents background of Meiji, Taisho and early Showa period, introduces the development and change of Japanese modern school physical education. The focus is laid on the school physical education in cultivating the culturally loyal subjects for Japan, and its physical support to a certain extent for later Japan’s war of aggression.The thesis is divided into three parts:the first part is the introduction of Japanese primary and middle school physical education environment and the general situation of school physical education development during early Meiji period.The second part objectively discusses the bud of the late Meiji military primary and middle school physical education, with three sections introducing physical education and military background, Mori Arinori’s nationalism education thoughts and the militarization of school physical education.The third part discusses the change of primary and middle school physical education caused by foreign wars and national situation in Taisho and Showa period, which aimed at cultivating patriot imperial subjects with spirit of the nation, and strengthening the militarization process of primary and middle school physical education. |
