This study aims to analyze how the fifth grade students' understanding of the decimal concepts influences on their decimal arithmetic.Combining with interviews,this study analyzes the main reason for the error,and then puts forward the corresponding teaching suggestions.This study bases on the decimal knowledge in the primary mathematics textbooks of grade three,four,and five,which are published by people's education press.The related decimal test paper in the study refers to the tests complied by Liu Manli and some other scholars,choosing the fifth grade students in a center primary school from Zhangzhou Pinghe County as test object,a total of 122 students are investigated,and the results of the survey are mainly analyzed by qualitative and quantitative methods.When making the qualitative analysis,the author mainly adopts problem a nalysis,analyzes the answers to each question in order to find the types of errors and analyze the reasons of making errors.The author also analyzes the linking problems among the decimal knowledge system,the meaning of decimals,operational rules and the decimal application.Studies have shown that the students' error patterns which belong to the decimal numeration system and the decimal point are affected seriously by the integer rules and the fractional rules.These students,when doing decimal arithmetic,they tends to not align at digit position,forgetting or making mistakes at the decimal point,they even make errors in advancing and retreating.These students also lack the decimal density;they also have difficulty in comparing decimals.The answers to the applied questions are under the influence of decimal concepts and operation rules,as well as the students' level of thinking.Finally,according to the reasons of making errors,the author puts forward some teaching suggestions: decimal concept teaching should let students concertize the abstract concepts as far as possible;to analyze the concept,it's necessary to study the homework differences.The operational teaching should pay attention to the analysis of calculating;great importance sho uld be attached to the error patterns,the training of the algorithm as well as the students' mind should be strengthened.
