Focused on the combination of language itself and the related content,Content-Based Instruction(CBI)is a kind of advanced model of L2 teaching.It is effective in L2 teaching abroad,and thus attracts the attention of many domestic research scholars in L2 teaching.In recent years there have been many related theoretical and empirical studies of CBI on English majors and non-English majors in our colleges and universities,which prove that the teaching model can play a positive role in improving the students' comprehensive English language ability.However,there are few such kinds of studies of the teaching model for our high school English teaching.Therefore,this research applies CBI in senior high school English grammar teaching to explore the implementation effect of CBI in our senior high school English grammar teaching.This study attempts to prove that the application of CBI for senior high school students English grammar learning can achieve a promoting effect and improve the students' interest and motivation in English grammar learning and that it can help the students better understand and apply the rules of English grammar and upgrade their comprehensive ability to use English.This study selected two parallel classes from Grade One in Huaxing high school in Xiamen as the subjects to form experimental class and control class and conducted English grammar teaching through CBI and traditional teaching model in the experimental class and control class respectively for a period of one semester.This experimental study carried out questionnaires and achievement tests to understand the senior high school students' English grammar learning attitude and their situation of English learning as well as changes in students from the experimental class in related aspects,and SPSS 19.0 was used in this study for data analysis of the questionnaires and test results.The final results of this study are shown as follows:1.Compared with the traditional English grammar teaching,the application of CBI for teaching of English grammar is more suitable for senior high school students' English grammar learning.2.The application of CBI for teaching of English grammar can enhance senior high school students' motivation and interest in English grammar learning and help them better understand and utilize English grammar.3.The application of CBI for teaching of English grammar can improve senior high school students' performance in English grammar tests and their comprehensive ability to use English.
