University-based teacher educators is the main teacher educator and the backbone in the training of teachers. Thus, they are the one who can affect directly the quality of teacher education and the quality of school teachers. Whether the important function of teacher educators in teacher education into full play or not, depends largely on teacher educators'role identity."Teacher educator" is a new topic in the study of teacher education, researches of teacher educators is relatively scarce. However, the existing studies have emphasized the demands for teacher educators and ignore the needs of teacher educators. This paper, the teacher educators'role identity, made up for the shortage exactly.The paper aims to investigate the status of university-based discipline teachers involved in teacher education, and ascertain the status of teacher educators'role identity of discipline teachers from the dimensions of identity degree and identity content, and analysis the influence factors of the role identity. Based on this research purposes, this study select five faculties of Northeast Normal University,8 discipline teachers as research subjects. Use of qualitative research in-depth interview, with the self-compiled "Interview Outline of Teacher Educators'Role Identity" as a tool to conduct research. After the text date from interviews were analyzed, following main conclusions:1.The status of teacher educators'role identity of discipline teachers:The lower level of teacher educators'role identity, embodied:dominant survivability identification, less achievement identification, no self realization identification.The content of teacher educators'role identity is differences, embodied: discipline teachers'attitude toward teaching and research is differences, but the attitude is consistent with the subject.2. The influence factors of discipline teachers to teacher educators'role identity: personal interest, personal values, development trend of teacher education and the social culture atmosphere.According to the conclusions, this study provides some reference Suggestions to improve teacher educator's role identity:encourage teacher educators to do self study, strengthen the teacher educators research, clear the legal status of teacher educators, create a harmonious teacher education culture, promote the construction of teacher education system.
