Research On Inheritance Of W(?) Style Taijiquan

As one of the most important Taijiquan schools, W? Style Taijiquan has its own unique theoretical system. Its simple and brief form embodies rich cultural connotations, profound philosophical wisdom, original thinking with distinctive Chinese characteristics, and forward-looking model of martial arts. W? Style Taijiquan has been playing a critical role in guiding the general development of Taijiquan since its birth. However, due to some reasons, the status quo of W? Style Taijiquan in spreading and inheritance is not optimistic. Therefore, the research on this field is necessary in order to improve its ability in spreading and inheritance.This thesis, based on rich historical documents, adopts the research methods such as literature research, investigation, logic analysis, etc. First, this thesis gives a detailed introduction to the historical inheritance of W? Style Taijiquan, then clarifies and analyses its essential factors and characteristics of inheritance, and finally provides a rational thinking about the inheritance of W? Style Taijiquan in the future.In the course of time, W? Style Taijiquan has absorbed the nutrition from the Guangfu local humanistic and geographical environments, and has developed its unique technical styles and profound cultural connotations. According to this thesis, the main origins of W? Style Taijiquan includes: W? family had the tradition of practicing martial arts; W? family got to know Taijiquan from Taihetang pharmacy; W? Yuxiang got a general ideal of Taijiquan from Yang Luchan; W? Yuxiang visited Chen Qingping and learned the details from him; W? Yuxiang got “Taijiquan Theory” by Wang Zongyue and developed his own style; W? had rich and profound knowledge of Confucianism. This thesis divides the history of W? Style Taijiquan's development into three stages, which are formative stage, developing stage, and populatizing stage.This research provides a complete picture of W? Style Taijiquan's inheritance by discussing its inheritors, the content, the ways, and the areas of inheritance. In terms of inheritors, the outstanding inheritors are listed, W? Chengqing and W? Ruqing are added as the founders, and a hierarchical diagram of inheritance is provided. In terms of the content of inheritance, the technical and theoretical contents are summarized from the perspectives of core philosophies, training methods, and technical systems. In terms of the ways of inheritance, various ways are analyzed, such as the inheritance in family, that between master and diciples, that by schools and organizations, that through publications, contests and communications, etc. In terms of the areas of inheritance, a whole picture is provided about how W?
