Teachers' practical knowledge(TPK) is based on practice and served for practice,which is an important part of teachers' knowledge. The novice teaching stage of development is significant for the whole development of teacher, because it is very important to form TPK. With biology is getting increasing attention, it is necessary to research on a senior high school novice biology teacher's practical knowledge. This study adopts the method of qualitative research, a kind of social science method,concretely, which include field observation, interview and collection of objects and so on. The investigated subject is a novice biology teacher, who has worked more than two years in a senior high school in Gansu province. The study aims at showing the content of TPK, analyzing the main influence factor of the development of TPK, and pointing out the efficient path of the development of TPK.In conclusion, the result of study includes the following points,Firstly, this subject as a senior high school novice biology teacher, developed five aspects of TPK, including self-cogitation, biology as a subject, students,teaching circumstance, and educational belief. What is TPK about self-cogitation?The study case shows that is Identity, and also Professional orientation; What is TPK about biology as a subject? For example, the ability of “interconnection”; What is TPK about students? The subject gradually realized that his students not only need humor but also hope to keep in order in his class; What is TPK about teaching circumstance? The study case indicates that is sensitivity instruction; As for educational belief is students not only need a sense of responsibility but also in demand for self-sanction, which is significant in students' life.Secondly, the development of the subject's practical knowledge is affected by several factors in different stages in many ways. His family and teacher are the main factors that affected his decision, before he had been to a entrant. After he entered to the normal university, there are two opportunities to practice, one is micro-teaching,another is teaching internship. He thinks it is fruitful and rewarding and would serve as a good reference for his future job. Since been a senior high school biology teacher,the subject's colleagues and students became the main factors, which affects the development of his practical knowledge.Lastly, the article indicates the effective path of the development of the subject's practical knowledge through two ways. One is the union interaction. In this respect,there are three avenues to develop TPK. First, the subject would probably imitate or consult to his colleagues. Second, he realizes that the assistant is in great request through cooperating with researcher. Third, he is constantly trying to find out his teaching style by interacting with his students. Another way is the individual exploration. The subject gradually finds that the method of teaching should be changed because the students vary from one another in every aspect, the reflection-in-action also is useful to promote his teaching practice. As a novice teacher, he is trying,changing and making efforts to explore a suitable atmosphere in his biology class.
