Migrant children's compulsory education problem is of an important social problem in China.Since the entrance threshold problem for migrant children to receive compulsory education in the city is gradually solving,how to ensure the quality of its education accepted is that we must focus on.Therefore,study the influence factors of migrant children's academic performance is of great significance.On the basis of the theory of social capital,this study discusses the differences between migrant children and local children in academic performance,and discuss what kind of impact the social capital factors have on migrant children's academic performance.The data used in this study comes from the survey,entitled" Education in the process of urbanization development research",conducted by Prof.Wanpeng Lei,Faculty of Education,CCNU.All data comes from the questionnaires and standardized tests on multiple cities and counties in hubei,guangdong provinces,This study use the partial data of Wuhan to illustrate the influence of social capital factors on the migrant children.The empirical evidence indicates that:(1)There are no significant differences between migrant children and local children in academic performance.Based on the statistics and analysis of data of Wuhan,found out that no matter in elementary school or junior high school stage,There are no significant differences between migrant children and local children in academic performance,local children's academic performance is not necessarily better than migrant children,however,between different school,there are significant differences of migrant children.(2)Individual level of social capital are the main factors influencing the migrant children's academic performance.No matter for elementary school or junior high school,the most influential factor is whether as a class cadre.(3)The influence of social capital is varies of different age children's academic performance.In elementary school,the factors evidently impact on migrant children are:whether as a class cadre?family social network resources and whether take an active part in group activities;as for junior high school,the factors are:whether as a class cadre?family's social economic status and number of biological brothers and sisters in the family.In general,the factors of social capital have significant influence on migrant children's academic performance.Based on the empirical research,relevant countermeasures and suggestions are put forward:Governments at all levels should guarantee the fair of starting point of school education,comprehensively improve school running conditions and continue to improve the migrant children's compulsory education policy environment;schools should improve their quality of education,strengthen the migrant children in learning to drive,to improve teachers' quality and education level,to improve the internal management efficiency of school;in the case of family social capital is difficult to change,organize parents training and perfect parent-school cooperative,improve academic performance for migrant children from disadvantaged family in multi-pronged way.
