In nowadays society, English is an international language and the demands on English skills are increasing. Therefore, the important task of English teaching is to cultivate student's interests and improve English learning proficiency. In tradition,English teachers emphasized teaching basic English knowledge, but the emotional attitude toward for English learning had been neglected, which had become the main obstacles to improve students' interests as well as learning proficiency for English subject.As an important affection factor for English learning, Self-Efficacy plays an important role in developing the English learning proficiency. It refers to the individual's prediction and judgment related to his ability to accomplish a requested action.Based on these theories concerning emotional attitudes such as Wiener's Success or Failure Attribution Theory and Krashen's the Affective Filter Hypothesis, by using quantitative research method, the writer investigated 200 senior one students from No.4senior high school and Experimental High School in Yan'an. And a questionnaire of 28 students questionnaires are invalid and 172 questionnaires are valid with a returning rate of 86%. The questionnaire of English General Self-Efficacy Scale was written by Zhang Shu fen with a good validity. The purpose of this thesis is to explore senior student's English learning Self-Efficacy and analyze its current situation to put forward the coping strategies based on the investigation of senior students' English learning Self-Efficacy and English learning situation, so as to improve their English learning outcomes and integrated language competence. The data collected was analyzed by SPSS 17.0. And the results as following:1) The overall senior students' English learning Self-Efficacy is at a moderate to inferior level. And the senior students in Experimental High school have a strong sense of confidence, which is more higher than students in No.4 senior high school. The students hold the point view that they can effectively deal with the mission. However, the senior student in No.4 senior high school feel not ideal, and they have a lost way to face the difficulty of English learning process.2) Students' academic record is positively related to Self-Efficacy. The outcomes of Self-Efficacy can make a prediction for students' English learning grades, and the two have a mutual influence.3) Girls' self-efficacy is higher than boys in English learning.
