China is undergoing changes brought about by urbanization. Such kind of change is unprecedented either in speed or in the scale. During the changes, generations of farmers who made a living by agricultural production around the city lost their land. The state conducted policies on their employment, benefits, housing and management to achieve the transformation from farmer to citizen at institutional level. However, the "Farmer's Citizenization" is not easy to achieve. Urbanization is not only reflected by the changes of household registration, living environment and profession, but should be reflected by the process of obtaining citizenship, developing the corresponding ability, adapting to the urban life and cultivating the basic quality.Through the research on land-lost peasants in NanXiang in Beijing, a rural-urban fringe community, the author found that after the research subject lost their farmer identity, in daily life, they reconstruct its transitional identity of "semi-citizenization" group. In practice, the group strengthened its identity with group through the applications of retention strategies such as inheritance of language habits, maintenance of old relationships, recognition of ego position and emphasis of collective interests; responded to the trend of social development through the applications of update strategies such as recapitalization, rational relationship, adjustment of consumption based on demand; laid out the reality of isolation status through the applications of innovative strategies such as closed working environment of township enterprises, implementation of special welfare provision and cultivation of unique renting culture. Based on the applications of a series of adaptive strategies in practice, and in all forms of the lifestyle, the identity of "semi-citizenization" of group can be reconstructed. The guidance of system and policy under the urbanization is the thrust to deconstruct "peasant" identity. The applications of adaptive strategies in practice is the mechanism of restructuring identity of "semi-citizenization" group. Based on this, the author proposes that the trend of "Farmer's Citizenization " is irreversible in the process of urbanization, but the result of transformation from "farmer" to "citizen" is not absolute.
