The traditional way of freshmen orientation had been adopted by Huazhong University of Science and Technology for many years. Due to the expansion of the scale of enrollment along with the development and changes of the processes of freshmen orientation, the drawbacks of the traditional way of freshmen orientation, such as the cumbersome processing, long waiting time, the lack of coordination between departments, had become increasingly prominent. Traditional way did not work anymore. With the rise of the construction of e-government, the gradual increase of the construction experience of HUST in the field of e-government system and the freshmen's strengthened information literacy, HUST began the construction of digital freshmen orientation service at the end of 2014. New service was introduced to the freshmen in the September of 2015.This thesis is based on the data collected from the interview with people related. The in-depth analysis of digital freshmen orientation service model has been taken in the dimensions of service objects, service contents and service way, based on the related theories of e-government and system engineering, along with the case of HUST.Based on the data provided by the staff and acquired from the in-depth interview, a comprehensive overview of the status quo and the construction process of HUST's digital freshmen orientation service are present in the thesis. The comparation between traditional and digital orientation service, the analysis of the outcomes of digital freshmen orientation service are made. An analytical framework of 3 dimensions, including service objects, service contents and service way, is built upon the related theories of e-government and system engineering, and used in the analysis process. All the 3 dimensions are discussed detailly. An in-depth analysis of the digital freshmen orientation service model has been carried out, from all the 3 dimensions mentioned above, using the framework constructed in this thesis.The conclusions of the analysis of digital freshmen orientation service model are drawn like: top-level design, analytical work of freshmen data, integration of the existing information system and the reengineering of process are extremely important, which are worth of being paid more attention to during the construction of digital service alike.
