Previewing is a kind of preparation for the lessons which are based on the current knowledge and cognitive level of the students.However,there are lots of problems in current primary school pupils' previewing.As a result,it is urgent to solve the problem which is beneficial to English learning.Scaffolding teaching origins from the Zone of proximal development theory under the guidance of a mature way of learning.Scaffolding teaching aims to help the students construct the understanding of knowledge by providing certain supports to the students in need.This paper gives a brief summary of the research on scaffolding teaching theory at home and abroad.It investigates and studies primary school pupils' previewing strategies for English classes under the guidance of scaffolding teaching theory.It sorts out the research background,purpose and significance of this study.In this paper,the author investigates and studies the previewing habits of two groups of primary school pupils in the researchers' school.Then the author explains how to build primary school pupils' previewing strategies under the guidance of scaffolding teaching theory.The conclusion of the study indicates that proper previewing strategies in terms of scaffolding teaching play an important part in improving pupils' overall achievement in English.Finally,this paper illustrates the contribution and limitations of the study.
