Primary school time is a significant period for language learning. Thus it is of great advantage in improving students' learning ability if teachers focus on students' learning difficulties.Although many primary school students have shown great interests in leaning oral English,it's not easy for them to speak English well.Scaffolding instructional model is a form of teaching that figures in students-centered way, fully broadening learning willingness and creativity. It is absolutely to the opposite of the traditional teaching method by modifying the monitoring role from teachers to students, encouraging students to participate in class activity voluntarily and probe into the problems in the process of learning actively, which helps to cultivate students to be up in the ability of collecting information, picking up new knowledge, reflecting and trying to solve problems as well as learning to communicate or cooperate. Therefore,it rises as a highlight in how to find and provide a proper “scaffold”,with which primary school students can gradually identify and face the problems in learning language and becoming an English speaker. In this research, based on the Bruner's constructivism and the theory of Vygotsky's“Zone of Proximal Development”,the author has put the steps into the actual learning situation in the primary school, such as questionnaire and test to explore the effectiveness of scaffolding instructional model in oral English teaching of the primary school.Through the research, the author has found that scaffolding instructional model has effectively and obviously performed as a supplement in oral English teaching of the primary school.Especially,it is helpful for primary school students to find problems in the process of oral English learning and cultivate their autonomous learning abilities.
