As an international communication tool,English is playing a more and more important role.What we all know is that English skills consists of five important parts,that is,listening,speaking,reading,writing and translating,all of which are vital to our communication and they are inseparable.In the College Entrance Exam the total score of writing is 25.However,because of its demanding requirements and its long-term process,both the teachers and students are afraid of the difficulty and lack of confidence.So,how to write a good position is always a thorny problem.Based on constructivism,Scaffolding theory offers us a new teaching instruction.This dissertation focuses on the following three questions:1.What are the strategies of"Scaffolding Instruction"?2.How to use the Scaffolding Teaching Strategy in the 5 teaching steps of "Scaffolding Teaching Mode"?3.Is the "scaffolding teaching method"effective in the teaching of English writing in Senior High School?This method includes five steps,namely building the scaffolding,exploring independently,learning with cooperation,and evaluating the leaning effect.The author applied the Scaffolding teaching method to the teaching of English writing in High school for one year.The subjects of the research were chosen from NanChuan middle school,and they are randomly assigned into two classes.There were no significant differences in terms of educational background.Both classes were taught by the same teacher,using the same instruction curriculum,and the same teaching period.The experiment extends 40 weeks.The first semester(the first 20 weeks)is the preparation stage,and the second semester(after 20 weeks)is the experimental stage.In the first period,the writer uses the same teaching mode in experimental class and control class.In the experimental stage,the traditional teaching mode is still adopted in the control class,while the experimental class started writing training according to the teaching method under the Scaffolding theory.After the experiment,the author compared the results of the two classes,and the students in the experimental class are required to do a questionnaire on the scaffolding instruction.Results show that firstly the scaffolding strategy includes providing a positive writing psychological support,an interactive support,writing skills support,writing effect evaluation support.Secondly,In the first step,the teacher should mainly provide positive writing psychological support;In the second step,an interactive support;The third and the fourth step,writing skills support;The last step,writing effect evaluation support.Finally,the scaffolding method is helpful for improving the students' English writing ability...
