This thesis mainly investigates the application of statistical analysis in academic proficiency test performance of secondary vocational schools in Jiangsu province. Student performance of the first academic proficiency test in Jiangsu province is analyzed as the main statistics data, which is fully utilized as guidelines for teaching improvement. In this research, linear regression analysis is used to look into student academic performance in the three subjects of Chinese, math and English along with performance-affecting factors such as faculty professional title, student major, student gender and etc.. The main performance-affecting factors are recognized and linear models between test performance and each factor are established. In addition, a principal component analysis is applied to evaluate the scores of each item in the math test paper to find out key items that affect the total scores and can be a reference for teaching focus. The outcome of principal component analysis also indicates that assurance of basic knowledge affects academic proficiency performance, which points out the direction for teaching.
