This thesis, based on the theory of Skinner reinforcement theory, studies junior high school English vocabulary teaching by ways of documentation, data analysis and logical induction. The study found that:1) typical problems among middle school students in terms of English vocabulary learning methods are:insufficient understanding and distraction. The main demonstrations are:lack of knowledge of how to conduct English-vocabulary learning and fail to fully grasp the ways and means of vocabulary learning. It reflects the current status of junior high school English vocabulary teaching and learning. What is needed in the teaching and learning of English vocabulary is as follows:the teacher is the dominant figure while the students should take the initiative. A correct, scientific and effective method in vocabulary teaching and learning is called for; 2) the current English vocabulary teaching in middle schools is far from satisfactory, which is shown as follows:a lack of interest on the part of the students and a positive vocabulary teaching atmosphere, a far from satisfactory teaching result, poor quality classroom vocabulary learning and low efficiency and a lack of individualized approach to learning on the part of the teacher. This also shows that middle school English teachers lack a clear understanding of English vocabulary teaching, the quality and efficiency of its teaching is low and there is much room for improvement in middle school English vocabulary teaching; 3) The application of Skinner's reinforcement theory in the teaching of middle school English vocabulary will have a meaningful and positive effect. The quality and efficiency of vocabulary learning among junior high school students will be boosted through positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, punishment, continuous reinforcement and intermittent reinforcement; Secondly, the use of customized teaching method will help each student find a learning method that suits him or her best. Feedback on teaching could also help students discover their problems in vocabulary learning and better adjust to the process of vocabulary teaching and learning. Aiming at improving the quality and efficiency junior high school English vocabulary teaching and learning, this study would shed some interesting light on middle school English learning and teaching as a whole.
