Since the 13 th Five-Year Plan,the high-quality development of economy and society has put forward new requirements for higher education.Private colleges are facing a series of challenges and development pressure.Especially in the issue of motivating the grassroots administrative personnel in private colleges.How to motivate the grassroots administrative personnel,mobilize their enthusiasm,improve the efficiency of university management,and establish an administrative team with excellent performance has become an important research topic for modern private college administrators.This paper presents an overview that,Skinner’s reinforcement theory is applied to grassroots administrative motivation research of private colleges,after consulting Chinese and foreign relevant research in recent years.Based on the case of Dongguan C College,the local typical private colleges,this paper discusses the difficulties in front of the private college motivation and the reasons behind them,by the methods of the literature inquiry,questionnaire and individual interview.Inspired by Tampoe Mahen motivation model,the survey adopted the Likert scale,based on the hypothesis that the factors as recognition of performance appraisal,salary and remuneration,career development and working environment are positively associated with overall recognition.Meanwhile,this paper compares the common problems faced both by domestic and foreign private universities about the improvement of administrative personnel motivation mechanism and the particularity.Finally,this research provides suggestion for constructing a scientific and reasonable motivation system for grassroots administrative personnel in private colleges and universities,based on the improvement of the school orientation,performance appraisal,salary and remuneration,career development and working environment.
