The Study On Social APPs Usage Of Gay Group

Gay Group,or the group of male homosexual,has existed in human's history for a long time.With heterosexuality acting as the leading social concept of relations,gay group,the minority group in sexual orientation,possesses relatively limited social circle and living space.Nevertheless,the emergence of social APPs for gay expands the social network of gay group,and exerts influence on gay group's life to a certain degree.This paper aims to present the status of friendship of gay group at the present stage.The instant messaging tool is different from the traditional means of communication in transmission characteristics and mechanism.New social tools,especially those which taking Blued as the basic study sample,boasting multiple functions including chatting,live video,online community,etc.,build a virtual online dating space and exert certain effect on both the gay users and the society.Taking gay users of homosexual social APPs as object of study,looking for interviewees comprehensively through registers of blued,volunteers participating in questionnaire,gay post bar,and microblog,theoretically based on relevant theories in journalism and communication as well as sociology,this paper makes a thorough inquiry in the usage condition of homosexual social APPs through questionnaire and in-depth interviews.First of all,the study gives a general view of the means of friend-making among gays and makes a comparison from traditional means,specialized websites to blued.Then,it gives an overall view of the current using condition of homosexual social APPs by gay group and describes the general situation of usage,content of communication,and communication methods combining with questionnaire data and in-depth interviews.Next,it explores and analyses the communication effect of homosexual social APPs from four aspects,namely,cognition,attitude,action and society.In the end,the paper analyzes the communication characteristics and hidden dangers of homosexual social APPs.The study finds out that the emergence of homosexual social APPs provides gay group with a new way of making friends and reduces the limitation of the single traditional way of making friend.Through social APPs,gay group can meet their needs in several aspects such as friend-making and sex,find like-minded friends,get corresponding feedbacks and expedite realizing self-identity as gay.Social APPs allow gay to gain a sense of belonging that is unavailable in reality.
