| How to effectively guide students memorizing words and improve their English study efficiency has become a common concern of domestic and foreign experts and scholars in recent years.Many scholars both at home and broad have devoted to looking for a more suitable English teaching method for teachers’ classroom teaching and students’ self-learning.And among their various researches,mind mapping method is a most representative one.Mind Map is a visual tool for knowledge representation.Since the introduction of mind mapping method and the concept based on the visual thinking into the education field,it has had a positive effect on education and teaching process.The researches on the application of mind mapping to teaching practice,however,mainly concentrate on primary and middle schools,the research fields of which are also mostly about reading,writing and English study,yet the researches focusing on the mind mapping vocabulary teaching with the object of secondary vocational school students are rarely seen.In view of this,the author intends to apply mind mapping to help the vocational school students enlarge their English vocabulary size,and study the following questions:1.What is the influence of Mind mapping-aided English teaching on students’ vocabulary size?2.What is the influence of Mind mapping-aided English teaching on students’ learning behavior,including their changes both in psychological performance and external learning style?This action research chose 46 accounting majors of Dongguan Commercial School which was a vocational school as the research subjects,and according to the procedures of action research,this study conducted two rounds of teaching practice with a total period of three months.During the first round of the research,the author adopted mind mapping method to assist vocabulary teaching after the normal teaching,mainly teaching students the word form and meaning concerned classification map and free association map and asking students to draw their own word map.Then in the second round,aiming at the problems emerged in the first round,the author made some adjustments and added the teaching of pronunciation concerned spelling structure mind map.The results proves that to some extent mind mapping aided English vocabulary teaching has a positive effect in the aspect of improving students’ vocabulary learning effects.To be specific,most of the students’ interest in vocabulary learning has been raised and their study confidence has been enhanced as well.They hold a positive attitude towards mind mapping method.What’s more,this kind of teaching approach can develop students’ learning styles,improve their awareness of mind mapping and other strategy use,for instance,association,imagination,summarization,wordformation,etc.,to establish their vocabulary network.By this way,it promotes students’ vocabulary learning and further expands their vocabulary.These findings indicate that mind mapping method contributes to English vocabulary learning for vocational school students. |
