With the development of the new Curriculum Reform and modern educational information technology,multimedia courseware is applied to English classes in senior high school.In China,most of scholars have researched on multimedia-assisted teaching from different perspectives.Some researchers studied the theoretical basis of the multimedia-assisted in English class,while others focus on the courseware design.Among these studies,few explored teachers' and students' attitudes toward using courseware,especially about the senior high school English classroom teaching,which requires further studies.Therefore,this research is an effort to find out the teachers' and students' attitudes towards using courseware,and put forward the corresponding suggestions to improve the quality of multimedia teaching.This study is aimed at answering the following questions: 1.What is teachers' attitude towards using courseware? 2.What is students' attitude towards using courseware? 3.What are advantages and disadvantages of using courseware? In order to have a comprehensive analysis of the attitudes and situations of using courseware,questionnaire and interview are designed by the author.The questionnaires and interview both consist of two versions:one for teachers and the other for students.The author distributed the questionnaire to 200 senior high school students and 47 teachers in Hohhot.Only 184 students' questionnaires and 46 teachers' questionnaires were valid.At the same time,9 students and 5 teachers were interviewed and recorded.According to the results of questionnaires of teachers and students,it shows that teachers' and students' attitudes toward using courseware are generally positive.And they thought that using courseware not only can stimulate students' interest in learning English,but also can create the situation,and it is helpful to utilize the multimedia courseware to help teachers create situations required.Using courseware in senior high schools English class can give a powerful assistance to promote teaching in the teaching process.However,there are still some problems when teachers use courseware in their language teaching.Multimedia courseware carries too much teaching information.The use of multimedia courseware can not meet the needs of students.Some teachers only pay attention to the form of multimedia courseware,but ignore the students' practical learning effect.Taking into account all these findings,the author gives some suggestions:For modern English teachers,they should have a wise mind to integrate the advantages of courseware and properly use them in class.What's more,they should consider the needs of students when designing the courseware.At last,the author hopes that this study will promote English teaching in senior high school and provide teachers a correct understanding of reflection on thecourseware.
