The unity of knowledge and practice,one of the basic principles of teaching in middle schools in China,means we must relate theory with practice in teaching.Practice is the source of theory,and learning theory is to guide students to understand and master knowledge,and then apply the knowledge to solve practical problems in the combination of theory and practice.The contradiction between theory and practice is mainly to ensure students' knowledge and social practice are not divorced and that students' knowledge can be used or returned to practice.However,the phenomenon of theory without practice does exist nowadays in the teaching process of“ political life ” in middle schools.The teachers are just instilling knowledge without interactions with their students,and the students are also limited to the knowledge of the textbooks.Moreover,the students' quality and ability of participation in political life is insufficient and the sense of citizenship and state is not strong,which are contrary to the principle of teaching in middle schools.Meanwhile,political life is an important part of social life.As citizens,we always have access to quantities of information about political life,focus on the information related to our vital interests and participate in political life.Therefore,it is essential to study the principle of the unity of knowledge and practice in the teaching process of “political life ”.Taking“political life ”of the high school as the object,this paper studies and explores the standard of the unity of knowledge and practice,the importance of its implementation in the teaching of“political life”,and the current situation,causes and solutions of the unity of knowledge and practice in the teaching of “political life”.This paper consists of five parts : The first part,also the foundation of this paper,is the introduction,which discusses the background andsignificance of the research,the domestic and foreign research reviews,research methods and innovative points,research conditions and possible problems.The second part discusses the connotation of the unity of knowledge and practice and its importance in the teaching of “political life ”and meanwhile,four important points are presented as well in this part : The reform of political system and the direction of political development require students to achieve the unity of knowledge and practice in political life.To implement the concept of scientific education development based on people oriented and the unity of knowledge and practice.The curriculum objectives of “political life”require students to relate theory with practice.High school students are in an important period of the formation of values and outlook on life,so we must cultivate students' civic awareness in this period so that they can take the initiative to participate in political life.The third part discusses the current situation and causes of the unity of knowledge and practice in the teaching process of “political life”.The last part discusses how to use the unity of knowledge and practice in the teaching process of “political life”,including updating teaching ideas,improving teaching methods,creative use of limited teaching resources,and improving the quality of teachers.Using the principle of the unity of knowledge and practice,the last part also chooses the lesson“The National People's Congress system: a fundamental political system of our country” as a teaching practice to analyse and evaluate the teaching effectiveness.
