English is a relatively important language in the current society as it is infiltrated into all aspects of our life,while writing,as an important part in English communicative way,in which people express their ideas or thoughts and feelings.But in ordinary high school in rural area,writing is the most difficult because it requires most from students.They even have no interest in learning English.When asked to write,they hardly know how to write and what to write about at all.In writing practice,many students still feel overwhelmed and the effect of their English writing is less impressive.However,the fact is that it is clearly required in China's "National University Entrance Examination Syllabus" and "Examination Instructions"that the candidates should be able to clearly and coherently convey certain information,express meanings and opinions.Simply speaking,group cooperative learning is a kind of teaching and learning strategy which needs group members achieve their goal by working together and motivate each other.Based on some experience of previous experiments and related theories,this study aims to use group cooperative learning to improve the students' writing level in ordinary high school in rural area,to study whether it is an effective teaching and learning approach.In accordance with students' practical problems,several suggestions on English writing teaching in rural area will be proposed' hoping to improve the le-vel of these students' writing ability.
