A Research On American Television Sports Emmy Award

Since the 1950 s,sporting events have become a fixed content for American television broadcasts.In the following decades,the rapid development of US sports television industry brought many influential programs and broadcasters.In more than half a century,how did the US sports program production become mature from immature.This thesis attempts to do a research on the production and development of American sports television through the study of the winning works of Sports Emmy award from 1979 to 2015.Based on abundant material and previous papers,this paper uses the methods of literature review and logical analysis to study the award-win programs and individuals over the years.The awards has a clear structure of award setting,and the academy sets and presents the awards in terms of the content,form,producing technology and social impact of the program.This paper conducts a classification analysis according to several program factors including events resources,the conditions of producing technology,hosts and broadcasters in sports program production,and then discusses them respectively.In each part,it analyses awards-winning programs and their subordinate television networks from the perspective of types of awards in combination with winners of some awards over the years,and then it analyses the strengths and weaknesses of program producers and program production by television network.The paper summarizes the features and trend of the development of American sports television programs.Through the research and analysis,the following conclusions are drawn:the resources of gold-medal sports TV program are highly concentrated;each has its own merits for the broadcasting and television networks with the obvious advantages in program broadcasting and cable networks with the eye-catching performance in producing sports documentary films.broadcasting network and wired network build a relationship of united competition;senior commentators and hosts are highly approved by the professional field;there are elaborate divisions of work in American sports programe production.
