| As we all know,writing can most reflect students’ comprehensive ability and occupies a considerable proportion in various academic performance tests.However,in the traditional English writing teaching,teachers are in the dominant position and students accept teacher’s evaluation passively.As a consequence,writing ability of students can not be improved for this way and students’ writing interest can not be stimulated by this way and this way may seriously affects English writing teaching quality.In order to change the current situation of English writing teaching,the paper explores the application of performance assessment in English writing teaching in senior high school on the basis of Multiple Intelligences Theory.The model of performance assessment emphasizes the evaluation of students’ performance in the process of completing writing tasks.Specifically speaking,it is to let students complete writing tasks,then evaluators judge the knowledge and ability,process and methods,as well as emotions,attitudes and values that students show out in the process of completing writing tasks according to certain criteria.Applying performance assessment to English writing teaching,in terms of students,it can effectively stimulate students’ writing interest,promote intelligence development of students,cultivate cooperative learning ability of students and improve students’ writing ability.In terms of teachers,it can enhance teachers’ evaluation efficiency and implement comprehensive evaluation for students’ performance in the process of completing writing tasks.Meanwhile,it can adjust teaching methods and improve teaching quality through the information interaction between teachers and students.The paper includes six chapters.Chapter one introduces the background,purpose and significance of the research.Chapter two describes the relevant researches on performance assessment in writing at home and abroad.Chapter three expounds theoretical basis,which include definition and advantages of performance assessment,definition of Multiple Intelligences Theory and relationship between Multiple Intelligences Theory and performance assessment.Chapter four describes the application of performance assessment in English writing teaching in senior high school.In this chapter,the writer describes the principles of establishing the model,then explains the steps of building the model,and finally describes designing samples of writing teaching.Chapter five is empirical study.The writer divides students whoare from two parallel classes of Senior Grade One in The Tenth Senior High School in Xinyang into experimental class and control class to do a comparative study.The author applies performance assessment to English writing teaching in the experimental classes and uses traditional English writing teaching method in the control class.After writing training for a semester,the author analyzes the teaching effects through the research methods of pre-test,post-test,questionnaire and interview and then draws the experimental conclusions that the teaching model of applying performance assessment to English writing teaching can effectively stimulate students’ writing interest,improve students’ writing ability and enhance teachers’ evaluation efficiency.Chapter six concludes the paper. |
