Study On Sexual And Reproductive Health In High School Students

Objective To clarify the current status of sexual and reproductive health knowledge and attitude among high school students in Anhui Province.Methods The 3 826 high school students in Anhui Province were enrolled in this study.The knowledge includes reproductive health knowledge,sexual health and AIDS knowledge and security knowledge,attitude and accessibility of sex and reproductive health in high school students were investigated with the self-designed questionnaire of sexual and reproductive health.The Chi-square analysis of variance and t test were used to assess group differences with respect to their statistical significance.Results Overall awareness rate of reproductive health knowledge of high school students was 55.08%,overall awareness rate of STD was 49.31%,overall awareness rate of HIV/AIDS knowledge was 56.23%,overall awareness rate of safety knowledge was85.61%.Overall awareness rate of sexual and reproductive health knowledge in high school students was 57.10%,overall awareness rate of sexual and reproductive health knowledge in boys was 63.92%,and in girls was 52.93%;overall awareness rate of sexual and reproductive health knowledge in high school students in city was 61.16%,and in rural was 55.40%.The mean attitude scores of sexual and reproductive health among high school students in Anhui Province was 34.78±4.09,52.06% students hold positive attitude toward sexual and reproductive health,26.47% hold neutral attitude,and 21.47% hold negative attitude.The most desirable knowledge of sexual and reproductive health among hig h school students was adolescent psychological development knowledge,adolesce nt health care knowledge and adolescent growth knowledge,respectively.The de sirable resources of sexual and reproductive health knowledge acquirement were the doctor/nurse,parent,network,respectively.When found body private parts feel pain or is abnormal,the first objects for help is parents,the doctor/nurse,classmate/friend,respectively.The 33.09% high school students reported had class about puberty,preventi on of HIV/AIDS or preventive violations at school.The students who have had class in school would have a higher total awareness rate of sexual and reprod uctive health knowledge than those who haven't,the difference was statistically significant.The total attitude score in students who have had class in school ha ve no difference compared with those who never have(P>0.05).Conclusion The status of sexual and reproductive health knowledge among high school students in Anhui Province is not optimistic.High school students have a strong demand for the knowledge of physical,psychological and health care,and we can provide the information with a popular way to high school students.School education have a positive effect on increasing students' sexual and reproductive health knowledge,and should fully play its lead role.
