Background:Early childhood is the initial stage in infant's all-round development,which is the crucial time for the nervous system of brain to grow quickly and be shaped.It is the maturing cerebral cortex that provides a powerful environment for the development of infant's mentality.It is easier for infants in early childhood to absorb and study something around them.It also plays an important role in shaping of infant's thoughts and personality in early childhood.In recent years,it is a very common phenomenon that infants are absent from kindergartens.The matter of reducing the absenteeism of infants has been attracted by public health experts,education experts and researchers'attention.However,in sight of international researches in this field,it is still at the starting stage to reduce the absenteeism of infants.It is important for infant's healthy psychological growth.It also has great influence on the infant's life-long health.Objectives:Questionnaire survey was applied in this study to know the current status of infant's absenteeism from kindergarten and relative influencing factors were also analyzed.This study could provide scientific basis on keeping good health in children.Methods:The infants studying in the kindergarten from September,2015 to October,2015 with their parents were chosen.Questionnaire survey was applied in this study to know the status of infant's absenteeism from kindergarten and the influencing factors.SPSS(19.0)software was used for all the statistical analyses.Pearson ?2 test was used to compare the distribution between the two groups.Logistic regression model was used to make multiple-factor analyses.P-value less than 0.05 was considered as significant difference.Results:In this study 270 infants from kindergarten and their parents were extracted as study subjects.270 valid parent questionnaires and 10256 record charts of infants'circumstances in the kindergarten were obtained.1?For demographic characteristics,single child family was positively associated with the risk of infant's absenteeism.The OR is 1.322,which indicated that children from single-child family was easier to be absent than children from non-single-child family;ORs from parents educational level w-ere 3.54 and 3.543,which indicated that infant's absenteeism would be reduced if their parents had higher educational levels;OR from infants who had experience the early education community was 0.442.OR from infants who had nursery experience was 0.421.In addition,sick infants were easier to be absent than those healthy infants with a OR of 1,672.2?For the aspect of daily life behavior,dietary habit was a risk factor that affected their absenteeism.Infants with imbalanced diets were significant associated with the risk of their absenteeism in comparison with those infants with balanced eating habits.The infant's absenteeism was easier to happen for infants without noon break or defecation on their own initiative.The ORs were 2.190 and OR 1.253.3?For the aspect of mental health status,infant's temperament type was significantly associated with infant's absenteeism.Infants who had tearful characters were easier to be absent than those infants with optimistic characters.Infant's absenteeism could occur more frequently for those infants with little touch and fear to strangers.The ORs were 1.239 and 1.259,respectively.ConclusionCurrently,it has been a common phenomenon that children are often absent from the kindergarten.Among the multiple factors about the absenteeism,we found that a child with high-educational-level parents and outgoing character would attend the class on time while picky-eater tend to be a frequent absentee.Hence it will be beneficial to prevent and cut down the children's absence rate on the basis of enhancing parents'educational level and developing children' optimistic character and healthy eating habits.
