The purpose and significance of the study: This paper analyzes the relevant statistical indexes of SCI papers published by a medical university from 2010 to 2014 through bibliometric analysis to explore the status quo,development trend and main problems of the published papers.We aim to explore effective ways to improve the quality of SCI papers through the expert interview of the main conclusions of bibliometric analysis during the above period.Through the conclusion of quantitative and qualitative research,the paper provides scientific basis for the proper use of SCI as evaluation index of performance appraisal and scientific research ability,and provide evidence for further improvement of research reward system,title evaluation system and scientific research management decision.At the same time its findings can also provide ideas and perspectives for other relevant institutions to do similar analysis.Sources and methods:(1)Data sources and methods of biblimetric analysis: comprehensive searching was based on the web of science database,JCR,ESI to collect published SCI paper using the medical university as the first complete unit of the first or communication authors.This paper summarizes the research methods,the main contents and the indicators of relevant research papers to determine the research contents,methods and indicators for this research.The collected data is recorded into the Excel software database and analyzed by SPSS17.0 software.The text of specific format is saved and imported into Citespace III software.Through the visualization tool,high frequency authors of the SCI papers,high frequency cooperation organizations and high frequency keywords are analyzed in the format of mapping knowledge domain.(2)Data sources and methods of expert interview : make summary analysis after recording the experts' opinion on the qualitative evaluations profile of main conclusions of SCI papers bibliometric analysis in this medical university.Main conclusions: The main conclusions of bibliometric analysis:(1)From 2010 to 2014,the number of SCI papers published by the medical university increase year by year.The number of articles,letters and reviews are increasing as well.Most papers are published in the basic medical research.The proportion of fund sponsored papers are increasing and stable research teams have been formed during this period,(2)The proportion of low-level SCI papers is high,the academic influence of SCI papers,the number of scientific research teams formed by high-frequency authors and the number of scientific research exchanges and cooperation with foreign institutions are limited.The main conclusions of the expert interview:(1)The publication of a large number of low-level papers is closely related to the defects of research reward system and scientific technical title evaluation system of this university.(2)Large number of low-level SCI papers produced by the research teams indicates the lack of characteristic discipline and superior subject in this university.(3)The large number of low-level SCI papers have resulted in a huge waste of national scientific research resources,Countermeasures and suggestions:(1)Perfect the research reward system and title promotion system to improve the guiding role they play in SCI papers' qualities.(2)Establish academic level evaluation system before the publishing of SCI papers to improve the quality of SCI papers.(3)Strengthen the research team building to provide platform for the producing of high-level SCI papers.(4)Strengthen the foreign exchange and cooperation work to create conditions for the high-level SCI papers.(5)Adjust policies as the starting point to change the scientific research personnel's opinion on publishing SCI papers.
