The thinking of liberal arts students is different from science students.Liberal arts thinking is more emontional but lack of the integrity and logic.Mind mapping can improve the logical thinking ability of liberal arts.By applying the mind map to the teaching of "Chemistry and Life",we can keep the advantages of liberal arts thinking and cultivate the integrity and logic of students' rational thinking,also broaden the depth and breadth of students' thinking.At present,few liberal arts students are interested in studying "Chemistry and Life" course,but "Chemistry and Life" is the subject of compulsory examination of liberal arts students which can also train students' thinking ability.In order to change the current situation that liberal arts students despise "Chemistry and Life",the mind map will be applied to teaching of "Chemistry and Life",so as to precipitate students into learning chemistry knowledge from all directions and multiple perspective,to help students successfully pass the Academic Level Test.On the basis of a large number of literature investigations,this paper defines the concept of mind mapping,and uses the theory of information processing,constructivism theory and Brunerian cognitive structure learning theory as the theoretical basis of this study.Through the analysis of the application of mind mapping in chemistry teaching and its existing problems,we investigate thoroughly the teaching model about how to apply mind mapping into the teaching of "Chemistry and Life".In the course of the practice in the Bei Fang Middle School,we first interview the teachers of the course "Chemistry and Life",to know the characteristics of the course and the actual situation of "Chemistry and Life" teaching,analyzing the feasibility and necessity of mind mapping teaching.Secondly,the 83 students of two liberal arts classes in the Bei Fang Middle School were conducted a survey about the interest in and attitude to chemistry studying after referring to their final exam results at Grade 10.Thirdly,combined with the actual situation of the Bei Fang Middle School and the students' learning situation,the students were trained by hand-drawn or computer drawing mind map.We applied mind mapping to the "Chemistry and Life " including pre-class preview,classroom teaching,after-school review and compared the chemical experiment teaching with theoretical teaching.And we used the three-dimensional object in our mind map teaching.We designed the specific example such as the "reasonable choice of diet","the separation of pigment in Rainbow candy" and other thinking map case.Finally,we studied 43 students in experimental class by conducting a post-survey questionnaireand collected these student's chemistry test scores and the mind map which draw during the teaching practices.All the data will be analyzed.The teaching practice about applying mind map into the course of "Chemistry and Life" shows that the use of mind map has deepen the understanding of chemistry teachers to the teaching of curriculum,the use of mind mapping in teaching practice promoted students' interest in chemistry learning and improved classroom atmosphere and students' achievements,mind mapping applied to the "Chemistry and Life" teaching has achieved good results.
