English writing reflects English learners’ language capacity comprehensively,thus becoming one of the focuses of researchers as well as learners’.As for Senior High English writing,it tests whether students can master excellent vocabulary,sentence patterns and the structure of a passage,and apply them fluently in their writing to express their ideas.Many researchers and English teachers have devoted themselves to English writing research and achieved various findings which are instructive and beneficial to teaching and learning Senior High English writing.However,English writing is a complex process involving different factors,thus it deserves continuous research on it.Actually,the situation of senior high English writing has much room to be improved,ranging from theoretical research to experimental research.Under this background,aiming to gradually and effectively improve senior high English writing,this paper carries out an experimental research with the guidance ofmemetics and language meme.To start with,this paper reviews and classifies the previous findings of memetics,language meme,English writing,the effect of language meme on English writing and especially senior high English writing teaching and learning.The second part is about the experiment lasting 15 weeks.The objects are students of a middle school in Hanzhong,who have similar English writing ability.The control class is taught with the method based on language meme theory,which focuses on language meme of vocabulary(adverb,adjective,noun,and verb),sentence patterns and passage structures,while the other is taught with the traditional method of their school.The main findings are: a,the language meme based method of teaching senior high English writing can greatly enhance students’ awareness of employing proper adjective,adverb,noun,sentence patterns and passage structure as well;b,the new method can arouse students’ motivation of English writing practice and develop the habit of autonomous study of English writing and c,students have stronger sense to find and analyze excellent language meme while reading,which contributes to their reading skills and strengthen their ability to think and analyze.Finally,this paper offers four teaching suggestions,covering teaching English writing step by step,employing effective and efficient approaches to teaching English writing,providing students with perfect language meme,developing students’ thinking and analyzing skills.
