Lifelong Education has existed for a long time,it could be traced back to the theory and practice of our ancestors.However,the idea of Lifelong Education was proposed by UNESCO at the Paris International Conference on Adult Education in 1965.Paul Lengrand made the report of "Lifelong Education" at the conference.After the conference,the idea of Lifelong Education quickly swept the world and became a popular term.Soon after,UNESCO published a large number of monographs and literature about Lifelong Education,and convened a series of international conferences at the same time.It provided programmatic guidance for the development of theory and practice of the Lifelong Education,and promoted the process of global Lifelong Education.In this study,the process of global Lifelong Education will be divided into four stages.The first stage is the initial formation stage of Lifelong Education,including the work has done by UNESCO before 1965,the concrete contents in 1965 and the development of Lifelong Education in the 1970 s.The second stage is the period of development of Lifelong Education,this part mainly introduces the contents and measures of UNESCO has done to promote the development of Lifelong Education from 1970 s to 1990 s.The third stage is the deepening and perfect period of Lifelong Education,it focuses on the contents of UNESCO has done to promote the development of Lifelong Education from 1990 s to the first decade of the 21 st century.The fourth stage is the sublimation period of Lifelong Education,this period includes the first decade of the 21 st century to now.This study is based on the four stages of Lifelong Education,mainly including the background of the development of Lifelong Education,the conferences and literature have done by UNESCO,and the different contents at each stage in the process.The first chapter is the background of the development of Lifelong Education,focusing on the changes of some factors,these factors include the international situation,the development of science and technology,social life,human beings and so on.The second chapter mainly elaborates the work has done by UNESCO to promote the process of Lifelong Education,including convened a series of international conferences and published literature in various stages by UNESCO,among these the more important literature are<Learning to Be:The World of Education Today and Tomorrow>(1972),<Learning:The Treasure Within>(1996)and <Education 2030——Incheon Declaration and Framework for Action:Towards inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning for all>(2015).The third chapter makes a detailed analysis and comparison of the work has done by UNESCO.The fourth chapter makes a summary of the promotion of Lifelong Education by UNESCO,and looks forward to the future development trend of Lifelong Education.
