Language learning strategies have played a more and more important part in teaching of English as a second language.The New English Curriculum Standards clearly points out that language learning strategies are premise to be a vital factor to improve English learning efficiency and develop learning autonomous ability.At the same time,it is required that our teachers should guide students actively and gradually help them form their personal learning strategies.What's more,students can adjust themselves to their learning needs so that they are able to prepare for their lifelong study in future.Textbook plays an important role in exploiting our New English Curriculum Standards,which is also one of the guarantee to achieve the curriculum standards and is the major basis of organizing teaching activities for teachers.More importantly,textbook is the main source for students to gain relative knowledge,skills and strategies.At the same time,it is necessary for educators to make full use of textbook to improve students' strategies consciousness.As a result,through evaluation from different aspects in senior high school English textbooks by Chongqing University Press,this thesis intents to answer the following three questions:1)Do the textbooks meet the requirements of the learning strategies?2)How is the percentage of each learning strategies in the textbooks and is it reasonable?3)What is the distribution of English learning strategies in each section?At first,on the basis of the result,the five textbooks all meet the requirements of the New English Curriculum Standards,and the frequency of using the four learning strategies are different.As a whole,the frequency of them from high to low are resource,cognitive,monitoring and communicative strategies.At the same time,each of the 4 learning strategies in the textbooks is not distributed on average.As for resource and cognitive strategies,they mostly appear in the Further Reading section of textbooks,and monitoring strategy is in Writing part.The last one is communicative strategy,it can be seen in the Reading part.What's more,to be more valid and reliable,the author conducts a questionnaire for students.It shows that students will choose one of the 4 strategies during their study,but the frequency of each strategy is differently.In a word,the results of this thesis benefit both teachers and students in the process of teaching and learning,and more important,with the help of the paper,the teachers can use the textbooks more flexibly and reasonably.At the same time,as to the results of the paper,there are some suggestions considered.Firstly,the teachers and students should transmit their traditional idea and improve the usage of learning strategies.Secondly,the teachers ought to train students in learning strategies consistently and pertinently according to their own learning styles.At last,for textbook compilers,they need to develop textbooks which can be met all the requirements of the New English Curriculum Standards and enhance students' comprehensive language proficiency.
