Vocabulary is one of the most important components of a language. In the three factors (grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary) of constitution language, vocabulary is the most important. It is the foundation of any kind of communication. In China, junior middle school English new curriculum standard stipulates that vocabulary teaching is one of the important components of English teaching and pointed out that making out the corresponding plan is necessary. The student must grasp at least 1500 ~ 1600 words and 200 ~ 300 useful expressions or fixedly matches.However, the author discovered that the student feels vocabulary learning is the most difficult task in the teaching years and the gap of vocabulary learning efficiency between the good students and the weak students is obvious extremely. Many former scholars have studied in this aspect, such as Naiman et al (1978) and Rubin (1981). They thought the most important differences between the good language learners and the weak language learners is the different learning strategy. The effective language learner can adopt many kinds of ways to help them well study, grasp and apply the knowledge. Ahmed (1989) discovered that comparing with the failer, the successful learner can apply more vocabulary learning strategies. He also discovered that the experienced learner can apply the study scientifically. So the research on vocabulary learning strategy is very important.In order to answer the following questions, the author has investigated in Automobile Industry Development Zone Campus Junior Middle School, and analysis the 98 students of 3 grade'English vocabulary learning strategy utilization status.1. How is the junior middle school students English vocabulary learning status?2. What are the differences of English vocabulary learning strategy between the good students and the weak students?3. In order to cultivate students grasp English vocabulary learning strategy, which concrete teaching ways teachers should adopt in the teaching?The paper is composed of five parts. The first part is introduction. The author proposes the issue solved in the paper and discusses the importance of vocabulary learning. In the second part, the author described the basic concept on vocabulary learning strategy and the domestic and foreign scholars'research on the vocabulary learning strategy. The author invested and analyzed the student's English vocabulary learning strategy status and made a conclusion that good students are more good at applying the vocabulary learning strategy comparing with the weak students in the third part. In the fourth part, the author summarizes and designs some concrete teaching operating procedures on how to instruct the student to grasp the vocabulary learning strategy. The fifth part is conclusion and forecast. The author summarizes the investigation result and points out the excellence and the deficiency and makes a forecast on the research of the vocabulary learning strategy.
