With the implementation of the high school curriculum,the number of words demanded to be mastered by the high school students increases greatly,so the change becomes a great challenge for both teachers and students.On the one hand,the difficulty of the high school English text and the quantity of the new words are increased,and the ratio of the words which are closely related to the Anglo-American history,culture,environment,technology and life is greatly increased.On the other hand,the new curriculum standard pays more attention to the ability of using vocabulary than to learning the definition of the words,in other words students should understand the deep meaning bearing in the lexical,and be capable of using vocabulary flexible and appropriate.The purpose of this paper is to find effective strategies theoretically and practically which can be used in high school English vocabulary teaching,and strategies are tested by the experiment to verify the validation if the work can improve English vocabulary teaching in ordinary high school.Some students from some school in Hanzhong were selected as the research object.After a month-long investigation and teaching experiment through the interviews to 20 English teachers and the questionnaire survey of more than 300 students in three grades of the high school,the current situation and existing problems of English vocabulary teaching were analyzed.The application of situational,word formation and etymology and a special training were employed in the teaching experiment process with the 56 students from Class 23.The efficiency of the strategies was measured before and after teaching by tests of teaching strategy questionnaire and the feedback questionnaire on teaching methods.The results of this study can be concluded as follows: The use of English vocabulary teaching strategies could improve the effectiveness of English vocabulary teaching in senior high schools and the students' vocabulary learning efficiency and effectiveness.If teachers make good use of the vocabulary teaching strategies,teachers and students can not only reduce the difficulties in teaching and learning vocabulary,but also can improve the quality of vocabulary teaching,and stimulate students' interest in English vocabulary learning.Finally,the questions how to use vocabulary teaching strategies to overcome the current problems of vocabulary teaching are discussed and analysized,and a specific vocabulary teaching case in senior high school English class is provided and some suggestions were given.In this paper,the author hopes to find a new way to improve the effectiveness of English Vocabulary Teaching in senior high school,and to explore a new approach to the future development of English Vocabulary Teaching in senior high schools.
