The reform of the English curriculum criteria attempts to arouse students' interest,increase their confidence in English learning and build effective learning strategies--the core task of the reform.In the process of promoting these core qualities,teachers must help students master language skills,cultivate the international consciousness,develop self-regulated learning ability and the consciousness of cooperation.The cultivation of these qualities and consciousness will never be totally achieved in class without considering students' feeling and individuality,although traditional classrooms pay more attention to imparting knowledge.In 1980 s,Ernest L.Boyer put forward the concept of ‘learning community' in his report The basic school:a community of learning.In his opinion,learning community is an environment in which learners can achieve the comprehensive development through completing learning tasks with teachers or any other assistants.To develop students' core qualities,the Educational Committee of Shanghai puts forward the concept of ‘learning community'.It is an idea which emphasizes the condition of study and the students' dominant role in the class.Therefore,the writer of this thesis reconstructs texts from the course books to create a favorable environment to introduce the ‘experiential teaching' into the English class of the primary school.In this environment,the writer tried to build an effective study community to cultivate students' core consciousness and qualities.To enhance other teachers' knowledge of the experience teaching,the writer of this thesis sorted the data about the study community and experience learning comprehensively.Besides,in order to link theory with practice,integrate students' real condition with the demand of English curriculum standard and textbook,the writer designed a program of activities to promote the use of the experiential learning in the primary school.The whole process of the experiment is recorded in detail.With theoretical understanding as the foundation,the writer of this thesis put the program of experiential teaching into effect.The writer enumerated a text,4BM4U1 It's time for Music Class as an example to state the way to apply the experiential teaching in the class.At the end of the experiment,the writer collects the date from questionnaire andthe final examination,which was taken twice,one before and one after the experiment.According to the analysis of these data and the typical individual case,the writer arrived at the conclusion that the experiential teaching can arouse students' interesting,help students build confidence and develop effective learning strategies.At last,the writer of this thesis summarizes the experience and deficiency of this experiment.It is hoped that this thesis can help more teachers do further research in the relevant field.
