Historic district records the city's historical changes and people's life.It is an important place because it contains the culture of city and undertakes contemporary living needs. From the perspective of Spatial Justice, historic district is the dialectical unification of material space, spiritual space and social space. It is essentially shared resources created together by the city dwellers. Therefore, the improvement of the physical environment, the revitalization of the economy, the inheritance of history and culture and the stability of social structure are all the goals of its renewal. And all the city actors have equal rights to participate in the renewal. But the strength among actual participants is not balanced with the strong influence of power and capital. Our country's historic district renewal faces with many problems such as precious historic buildings being destroyed, detailed city textures being erased, original residents being forced to leave their hometown, emotional neighborhood relation network being damaged, the loss of local culture and so on.Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to explore how to ensure the right to the city of each actor so as to realize the pursuit of spatial justice in historic district renewal. To solve this problem, this paper needs to answer these questions:?How do we understand the new perspective of spatial theory??How do we think about the historic district and its renewal in the perspective of spatial justice??How is the specific historic district renewal in our country??How do we realize spatial justice in historic district renewal under the guidance of the right to the city?To answer these questions, this paper mainly includes four parts:The first part(chapter 1 and chapter 2)analyzes the existing research and builds up the perspective of spatial analysis. The return of the social attribute gives the space more profound and rich connotation, and the space becomes the factor of production and the product itself.Only the multiple cooperative action of balanced power can ensure the equal right of every actor, and realize the pursuit of justice in spatial production. The second part(chapter 3)interprets the historic district and its renewal in the perspective of spatial theory. The historic district is the dialectical unification of material space, spiritual space and social space. It has characteristics such as publicity, uniqueness of culture and reliance on social daily life, which form constraints on spatial production of historic district. The historic district is essentially shared resource created together by city dwellers,so every city actor has the equal right to participate in the spatial production. However,in reality the production is full of conflicts among value, power and interests. The imbalance of Power among participants leads to some unjust results such as tragedy of shared resource, the loss of local culture, the collapse of social structure, etc. The third part(chapter 4)analyzes the multi-agent action in the historic district renewal with the cases of Furong-Qushuiting street in Jinan and Tianzifang in Shanghai. The renewal of Furong-Qushuiting street follows evolution trend of "government-led model—cooperation between government and developers—seeking multiple cooperation".Its early update is mainly an unbalanced game under the dominance of the government and developers, which has caused problems such as some residents out-migration,original neighborhood network affected, excessive commercialization impacting the street's history and culture. The future trend of this renewal is the multi-agent cooperation among the government, enterprises and residents. The update of Tianzifang is a spontaneous spatial experiment with artists reforming the old factory, the basic-level government leading cultural street renovation and the residents increasing income by renting their own living house. This update is a multiple cooperative action by basic-level government and spontaneous social actors such as artists, ordinary residents, experts and scholars, etc. This renewal has promoted the inheritance and innovation of the culture, and also created opportunities for artists' working and residents' income increasing. But its later development appears problems as excessive commercialization and entertainment, and the contradiction between the residents' daily life and business is still up in the air.The government's effective management in this district remains to be perfect. The fourth part(chapter 5 and chapter 6)puts forward the countermeasures to ensure the right to the city for realizing spatial justice. To realize spatial justice needs to defend the right to the city of every city actor, guaranteeing that they can equally and effectively participate in historic district renovation. While to ensure the right needs balanced effective multiple cooperation. In order to promote the effective cooperation among all participants,it needs constructions and designs in aspects of action ideas, participants, platforms, institution rules and tactics, etc. On the one hand, the study interprets historic district and its renewal, explores the injustice in its spatial production, and puts forward the path and strategy to achieve spatial justice. On the other hand, the study proves the explanatory power of the spatial justice theory with the issue of historic district renewal, and tries to add interpretation for this theory in the production and inheritance of history and culture space.
