English writing is one of the basic language skills of high school students.Domestic and foreign scholars have done a lot of researches on the second language writing anxiety.However,not many studies refer to the causal analysis of English writing anxiety of senior high school students and its countermeasures.This study aims to investigate the situation of high school students' English writing anxiety,to analyze the causes and to put forward effective countermeasures.This study mainly deals with the following issues:(1)How is the current situation of high school students' English writing anxiety?(2)What causes high school students' English writing anxiety?(3)What strategies can effectively alleviate the English writing anxiety of senior high school students?This study takes 347 senior high school students as objects,using English writing tests,observation,questionnaires and individual interviews as research methods.With the aid of the English writing anxiety and strategy questionnaires and English writing test,the author collects effective data.SPSS 23.0 is employed to conduct descriptive analysis.12 students and 3 teachers are randomly selected to take an interview to make a further investigation of the causes of English writing anxiety.The students' levels of writing anxiety and their use of effective strategies were tallied,classified,and analyzed.Finally,the analysis of the data shows that in the writing process most students suffer serious anxiety,and students of high and moderate anxiety level account for 89.1% of the total number.The causes of students' English writing anxiety is complex,including students' living and learning environment,academic pressure,language foundation,their self-confidence in and attitude to English writing,their writing strategies and teachers' evaluation.These factors work together and result in English writing anxiety.With these findings,this study tries to find effective strategies to deal with the students' English writing anxiety.The author takes the two countermeasures from humanistic quality education,including the cultivation of students' emotional strategy and the adjustment of teachers' teaching strategies.According to the students' English writing process,the author puts forward pre-writing strategies,while-writing strategies and post-writing strategies.Each strategy also contains some detailed activities and precautions.After one semesters' implementation of these strategies,the author tests the students' English writing levels again.The result shows that,in the first test,the number of students above 18 points is 101,accounting for 29%;while in the second test,the number is 125,accounting for 36%,whose increase rate is 23.8% compared with the first test.The findings prove that the writing strategies for students' English writing anxiety are effective,which can relieve students' writing anxiety and improve their English writing.Therefore,the findings of this study are consistent with the author's expectations.It is hoped that this thesis can be of some help in the further study of senior high school English writing teaching.
