With the sustained and rapid economic development,China is gradually moving towards a consumption society,the choice of consumption gradually evolved into a process of self packaging,shaping and recognition.Consumer behavior is not only in order to get a piece of the use value of commodity,people began to pursue the added value of consumption,such as personality,quality,economic strength and social status,they showed conspicuous consumption,we call this conspicuous consumption.This phenomenon is gradually expanding in middle school students,with the improvement of the family economy,more and more money can be dominated,in addition to the consumption of curiosity,they want to show off their own unique way of consumption.At the same time,the academic achievement is still a very important factor to evaluate whether the students are good or not,and also the most important factor to influence the behavior of middle school students.In middle school,teachers,parents and classmates will evaluate the student's study according to both their academic achievements and the comparison with others',and transform to evaluate the student's other various behavior out of academic study,thus form the overall evaluation to the individual student.This evaluation will have fluencies on students' self-identity and satisfaction,resulting in differences in students' self-esteem.Different levels of self-esteem of middle school students will adopt different strategies to deal with this situation,as a middle school student consumer choice is very important in the life of learning,especially conspicuous consumption,also will be affected by their academic achievement and self-esteem.It is necessary for middle school students as the research object,in-depth analysis of the relationship between learning self-esteem and conspicuous consumption tendency,achievement,to explore the mediating role of self esteem,reveal the formation mechanism of conspicuous consumption tendency of middle school students.This not only helps the students of conspicuous consumption related economic phenomena,to in-depth understanding of students' conspicuous consumption behavior and the formulation of the related intervention strategies have great significance.In this study,433 middle school students were tested by Rosen Berg self-esteem scale(1965),self conspicuous consumption tendency questionnaire,using the method of questionnaire investigation and interview;the data were analyzed by correlation analysis and regression analysis using the Spss19.0.The main conclusions of this study:(1)The academic performance of middle school students has no significant effect on their conspicuous consumption,only a weak negative correlation;(2)Middle school students' academic performance and self-esteem were significantly positively correlated,that is,the higher the students' academic performance,the higher the level of their academic performance;(3)Middle school students' self-esteem level and conspicuous consumption tendency showed a significant negative correlation,that is,the higher the level of middle school students' self-esteem,the lower the tendency of conspicuous consumption;(4)The mediating effect analysis showed that self-esteem plays an intermediary role between learning achievement and conspicuous consumption in middle school students,learning achievement is poor students,their self-esteem level is low,the more through conspicuous consumption to compensate.At the same time,learn from how to improve the performance,put forward a series of countermeasures to improve the level of self-esteem,guide consumption and so on,to help the students to form a good relationship in learning,self esteem,consumption.
