Game is a basic activity of kids, which is a unique social activity adapted to the kids'characteristics. Since the unique nature of game, it is widely used in the primary school English classroom. However, there are still many potential problems during the applica-tion of games. To tap the value of the game in the English classroom, the thesis makes a research to find out the problems during the application of game and provide some reasonable solu-tions based on the SLA theories. Some research methods such as classroom observation, questionnaire, and interview have been taken to collect data needed. All the data were collected from a primary school in Nanjing. In view of this, the study was carried out to solve the following three questions:1) What are the students' general ideas towards the game in English classrooms?2) What's the teachers' attitudes and different understanding towards game applica-tion in English classrooms?3) Based on SLA theories, what kind of problems may occur in the application of games and what measures can be adopted to solve the potential problems? The results find that: 1) With grades increasing, the interests of students for English are declining gradually. As a result, game application in English classrooms turns out to be a very important factor to arouse students' interest and motivate their learning. Among all the forms, the most popular ones are action response games and listen and response games; 2) As for the teachers, the young ones tend to think game is important for child-ren's development while the old ones tend to regard game application as a waste of time; Most teachers learn different forms of games from demonstrated lessons and only a few of them may create new games according to the teaching needs; 3) Based on Krashen's theo-ries, there are some problems for game application: for instance, not enough comprehensi-ble input, no proper aims, not language-focused and not well controlled in the discourse. The implications are as follows: 1) There are some conditions for successful games, for example, isolation from other activities, clear criteria, concrete feedback, etc. 2) There are some principles for the teachers to follow, for example, Interest-focused Principle,Learner-center Principle, Task-based Principle and Multi-intelligence Development Prin-ciple. Also there are some limitations, for instance, the volume of subjects is too small and the time of classroom observation is too short. As a result, further studies are still needed.
