A Practice Report On The Liaison Interpreting For 2016 Hezhou Lihui Cup Basketball Games

Because of its unique charm,Basketball attracts more and more fans,and rapidly developing all over the world.As a result,more and more both official and non-official basketball events are held in China.With attendance of foreign coaches and players,basketball team-assigned interpreter emerges as the times require.But there are few reports about basketball team-assigned interpreting so far as well as the study about it.So analysis and summary of this project is not only providing the other interpreters a reference example,but also can enrich information in the field of basketball team-assigned interpreting.In August 2016,Hezhou "Lihui Cup" basketball games,the author took part in the event as an interpreter,and did team-assigned interpretation for a local company.The interpreting practice mainly involved the knowledge and terminology of basketball,which was hard to understand.The form of the interpreting practice was liaison interpreting.In this paper,the content of case analysis is the interpretation of the final,to analyze the problems in the interpretation,and to explore the corresponding countermeasures.Starting with the background of the task,the author focuses on the preparation and importance of the preparation.Through the case analysis,combining with the relevant theory,this dissertation expounds the problems and solutions in the process of interpretation.This article mainly from the following aspects to analyze the interpreting practice,including short-term memory,processing of sentence,terminology processing,analysis of disfluency in speech production,a slip of tongue and omissions in interpreting.As well as language and non-language obstacles and conflicts in communication and different social system will be discussed and analyzed.Moreover,the role of the interpreter in the interpreting task and in the problem solving is also discussed.The key point and difficulty of this practice is how to deal with the professional knowledge and how to use interpreting skills to deal with the unfamiliar areas.This paper will use the method of interpretive interpretation and free translation to deal with professional information and solve the professional problems encountered.In the paper,the author will focus on the pre-task preparation,and the problems encountered in the interpreting practice and their solutions,so as to provide a reference for the basketball team-assigned interpreters.
