Since the Ministry of Education released Basic Education Curriculum Reform(trial implementation)in 2001 to announce the start of new curriculum reform in senior high school,the new curriculum reform makes comprehensive reform on curriculum standards,teaching concepts,teaching contents and edition etc,among which one big reform is to reorganize the original 3 volume textbooks into 3 compulsory and 3 optional courses.Of all the six volume textbooks,the 3 optional courses are mainly for the selective learning of students according to the actual situation of the school.This arrangement presents the students-oriented concept of new curriculum reform.And the arranged knowledge in selective courses is either strongly-technical or practical,which presents higher requirements for the knowledge storage and courses management of teachers.Then it would lead to a series of problems in the actual teaching.The third selective textbook Modern Biotechnology Monograph Study mainly introduces the theories and technologies in some major fields of contemporary science subject,which is one important component of selective knowledge system.Many schools choose this textbook for the extensive learning of science students as well as the College Entrance Examination;however,the effect is not so satisfactory.The reason is as follows:though it is affected by the courses arrangement and guidance of examinations as well as the restrictions on the learning situation of students,understanding as well as common sense,the lack of emphasis of teachers as well as the lack of study on text edition and knowledge structure cannot be ignored.In this paper,the author will analyze and discuss the Modern Biotechnology Monograph Study from partial and overall analysis,among which the partial analysis is the summary,discussion on important and difficult points,the linking with compulsory textbook and the handling of disputes and so on.On the basis of partial analysis,the overall analysis is to comprehensively analyze the edition features:firstly,the textbook has a variety of forms to help teaching beside the column;secondly,the textbook interspersed with a large number of illustrations to impart knowledge;thirdly,the textbook involved in more goals of emotion,attitude and values than compulsory courses.At last,the author would propose several suggestions on the teaching of selective textbook 3 from his own practical teaching experience in hopes of providing the front-line teachers with some enlightenment and help so that they can effectively organize the compulsory class and complete the selective teaching task perfectly.These teaching suggestions include:strengthening the comparison between knowledge,connecting the old knowledge,using the question string to inspire the students thinking,using illustrations,focusing on the explanation of proper nouns,adding new research results.
