Facing the trend of world curriculum reform, mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan started the reform successively at the end of 20th century. These reforms have breakouts in curriculum theory, goal, content, evaluation and the compile of textbooks, and have separate characteristics of their own as well. Since these three areas have the same language, culture background, so we have a lot to borrow from Taiwan and Hong Kong in Chinese curriculum reform. This research aims to find out and analyze the similarities and differences by comparing the junior Chinese curriculum reform of these three areas so that it may draw more attentions to this area. The author also hopes the research can put some highlights to the revision of our country's Chinese curriculum standard.The first part of the paper discusses the implement of basic education curriculum reform, the new demand of intellectuals of this century, the main problems of present Chinese curriculum in these three areas, thus introducing the background of the curriculum reform in these three areas.The second part of the paper analyzes the structure and characteristics of curriculum goals in these three areas, thus discussing the similarities and differences of curriculum goals.The third part compares the content of curriculums in these three areas and finds out the similarities and differences in oral communication, reading and writing. The author emphasizes on Chinese comprehensive learning method of the mainland.The fourth part discusses about the highlights of Hong Kong's Chinese textbooks to mainland's Chinese textbook by comparing the characteristics of mainland's experimental textbook and Hong Kong's competence based textbook. Then the author puts forward some suggestions on how to choose reading materials for Chinese textbook.The fifth part mainly introduces the evaluation standards in these three areas. Then the author discusses the preliminary effects of curriculum evaluation reform and gives some suggestions of the implement of curriculum evaluation reform.The final part summarizes the junior Chinese curriculum reform in these three areas and puts forward the suggestion of constructing multi-level, multi-dimension curriculum standards according to the problems of carrying out Chinese curriculum reform in the countryside and less-developed areas.
