| Critical thinking has been widely used in many fields,especially in education.Educators and scholars in this field pay more attention to it.To some extent,they gain great achievements at home and abroad.However,most of their achievements are about university students or students in senior high school,who have already had an ability of distinguishing something.Moreover,they focus on developing students’ critical thinking ability by using critical thinking skills.This thesis aims to develop students’ critical thinking tendency by using some critical thinking skills,specifically it examines the effects of English reading teaching under the guidance of critical thinking on students’ reading level and their critical thinking tendency.The research focuses on two main questions:(1)Whether reading teaching under the guidance of critical thinking affects the students’ reading level or not?(2)Whether it can change students’ critical thinking tendency? According to the research questions,the research choose the students in Grade 7.Class 2 is a control class and Class 3 is an experimental class.The control class is taught in traditional way.That is to say,they comprehend the passage while translating it.Students’ critical thinking tendency and reading level after the research are tested before the research.It is founded that the students’ reading level are similar and there is no difference between their critical thinking tendency.After the test,the results of the experimental class have changed a lot.That is to say,there is significant difference between them.The results of the research show:(1)Students’ reading level has been improved under the guidance of critical thinking.In other words,it is effective to improve students’ reading level.(2)Students’ critical thinking tendency has been changed under the guidance of critical thinking and their critical thinking consciousness has developed.The four aspects in analyticity,self-confidence,inquisitiveness and maturity have changed significantly.Moreover,the students’ critical thinking ability will be further developed in future study.The research is discussed and analyzed by using critical thinking theory.On the basis of the discussion of the research,the following implication is obtained: critical thinking should be put in daily teaching to help improve students’ reading level and foster their critical thinking tendency so as to make them become autonomous learners who are capable of thinking. |
