In the domain of second/foreign language education,researchers have realized the effects of language learning awareness on the process of learning,which is one of the personal factors and plays a vital role in their language learners' behaviors and outcomes.It is strongly suggested that language teachers assess the various awareness held by their students and study how such awareness affect their learning.In recent years,a considerable number of researchers abroad have made great achievements in studying language learning awareness,marking a true exploration in this field.However,there is inadequate research on English language learning awareness among junior middle school learners at home.This study aimed to explore junior middle school students' awareness of English learning and of their learning conditions.The current study employed questionnaire and qualitative interviews investigate English language learning awareness adopted by 58 junior middle school students from two middle schools in Pu'er,and all of them were interviewed one by one.Excel was used to collect and analyse data.The results of the study showed that: first,junior middle school students held early awareness of English learning,which has showed us to see the evolution of junior middle school students' views and their increasing English language learning awareness.Secondly,an early awareness of English learning and learning conditions as well as the influence of the learning environment and experience on the changes reshaped their views as they joined higher grade levels.Thirdly,some students did not seem to possess appropriate English language learning awareness.They attached too much importance to grammar and vocabulary as well as reading and listening,and ignored productive skills such as writing and speaking.Finally,due to the effects of learning and former learning experience,the language learning awareness held by Simao No.4 Junior Middle School students was stronger than which held by Simao No.6 Junior Middle school students.In light of the above findings,implications for English teaching and learning were put forward in Chapter five.The limitations of the study and suggestions for future research were reported in the end of last chapter,and suggestions are offered in hope of improving the junior middle school students' English learning.
